Beany Bean and the Broccoli Bunch...
But now I have something worth talking about - I want to talk to you for a minute about Art. We all hear the word bandied around a lot these days - "My kid made that in art class," or "Oh, I don't care much for that art rock," or "Art Linkletter once sold me some bad acid," and even such ridiculousness as "The Dr. P.... I like errors in my art. I like the kind of art that draws attention to the edges of things, that jams culture down it's own throat in a kind of meta-detournment which blurs the line between artist and audience.
Here's some info about it from Korg: The KAOSSILATOR is a pocket-sized musical instrument that puts a KAOSS touchpad interface on 100 of Korg's world renowned synth sounds and innovative performance features!... A special birthday set recorded last year.... These are the tracks that I usually don't play for anyone.
Even better than the Splasher: Damn it. You've got to love his subject matter.
Wielding a bucket of paint, and a whole bag-full of $10 words, 'The Splasher' is leading a dadaist revolution against street art, sort of.... First, to what extent is his basic premise correct-- are most streetartists spoiled children of the (white) bourgeoisie?
Nods to R.Garcia for the heads up. I knew I needed help around lunch time.
No, You're Wrong!
Well, I'll be evolving my regenerative improvised set from Nophest at this show. So if you couldn't make it to Atlanta last month, come check it out for yourself on the 12th.
This post is nothing more than a clever ruse to have all the people that are subscribed to this site to come out of hiding and introduce yourself in the comments.... What didn't you finish What do you want more of this year?
These tracks were written around the same time (circa September), and has me working in very ambient vein.... In fact all three of these tracks are driven by their synth parts, with the beats (when they even make an appearance) take a back seat to the more forward melodies I composed.
Its interesting how some sound palettes just impart that space age feel to the song.... At the risk of sounding cliche, this track has the feeling of orbiting the earth at 20,000 miles per hour, but at the same time retains the same kind of - like many a synth melody driven track.
This track evokes a kind of reluctant nostalgia and earnest soul searching that only ambient music (both making and listening) can evoke. This is a beat-less piece, with a subtle shaped buzz-hum standing in as a baseline to the delicate piano melody that dominates this track.
A synth-y ambient dream, combined with a subdued galloping beat - awash in multiple delays.
Those dirty Martians are stealing my job at the ray-gun factory! This and other thinking man's Tees available here.
Merry Xmas, ya bastards! No go spend time with your family or something.
I apologize to all of the people that emailed me wanting a repeat of "Waltz of the Sugar Plum Flowers" - but I just couldn't get any quality time in between Nophest and a especially busy season at work. We'll see what we can do next year ;) If you need more cheer, allow me to direct your attention to this gem from the valut: xnlbxmasmixohfive.
Autechre just announced the upcoming album release, due out on March 3, 2008. Entitled "Quaristice", this is the first release since 2005's epic brain scramble "Untilted".
It'd be interesting to see some electronic acts up against your traditional indy bands.

South Korean mad scientist clones kittens; makes them glow in the dark:A team of scientists led by Kong Il-keun, a cloning expert at Gyeongsang National University, produced three cats possessing altered fluorescence protein (RFP) genes, the Ministry of Science and Technology said."It marked the first time in the world that cats with RFP genes have been cloned," the ministry said in a statement.I just don't think you can top a kitten bred to rave.
One suggestion was to donate educational materials related to Jamming, Media and Intellectual Property to educational institutions and libraries annually.... As soon as we've determined how many copies we can purchase, we'll complete the selection process and post a list of the selected institutions.
and phat_joe for making it out - it was a pleasure meeting and talking with both of you (can't wait to listen to your CD Steve) - as I have only gotten to know them through the Snuggles list. The stand out acts for me were: The Nerd Parade Swak Sinatra Citazen Green Harmaline The Secret Life I had the pleasure of dropping two dj sets, which were both well received (especially the old school set, which I grinded up with my KP3).
