EP from 2004
This EP is a seditious IDM rock-opera response to American culture, spun with a mixture of standard instrumentation, synthetic textures, and a swank fetish for nonmusical objects. It's also available for purchase on CD at the artist's website.

Album from 2003
Prepare yourself for bizarre incarnate. Originally released under the pseudonym Bubzigohn, The Fugue Episode is the result of 2 years of intense audio exploration by the artist now known as Johan Ess. Completed in early 2003, this could technically be considered a debut release, since it was hand distributed to a larger audience than previous albums, including luminaries met around that time such as Otto Von Schirach, Randy Garcia, and Richard Devine. It was also one of the first releases on the (now defunct) netlabel Alpha Cat Boogie, co-founded by Johan Ess. It is undoubtably an "avant-weird" work, not meant for mass acceptance by any means, and was made during the peak of Johan's kooky obscurity obsession. Enjoy if you can.

Album from 2001
Mister Hash Guy is the juvenile delinquent reality-tunnel brainchild of Johan Ess. Made in 2001, this album represents a time of uber-experimentation and last-minute highschool antics before facing the harsh "real world" environment of Orlando's community college music production program (from which the next album, "The Fugue Episode", blossomed). Blatantly referring to the use of cannabinoids, Mister Hash Guy is an amusing expose on the results of letting chemicals influence one's art. Johan swears he will never need to write another song about drugs, especially the killer weed, after completing this release. Bon appetit, stoners.
